EFAs helped stop itching and fleas

Jenny seemed to be unusually itchy, scratching herself day and night. I thought I had isolated the cause to wheat, so stopped giving her biscuits and any foods with wheat in them. She never really got to the point of hot spots, but her coat still seemed dry, and whenever we'd go for a day hike, she seemed to be a flea magnet, so would continue to itch and scratch.

I had heard and read that essential fatty acids formulated for dogs can help membrane function and digestion, as well as result in skin and coat health, to the point of making the dog's skin unappealing to fleas. So I got some EFA capsules made by Animal Essentials. They're shaped like little whales, and Jenny twirls and eats them like treats. I give her one in the morning and one at night, and she doesn't itch anymore. It's been six months and she hasn't had any evidence of fleas either. Unexpectedly, her stools also became easier to pick up on walks, so she must be digesting her food better too.
